Tinker Hatfield's 1997 masterpiece — one of Nike's most influential running silhouettes ever. The original Talaria was among the first Nike shoes to feature visible Zoom Air technology and the flex-groove outsole that fundamentally changed running shoe design. Design historians regard it as 'ahead of its time.' The Talaria completes the trilogy of Tinker Hatfield's Y2K running silhouettes alongside the Air Huarache (1991) and Air Presto (2000).
The '16 NikeLab reissue — NikeLab is Nike's premium/experimental sub-label, meaning limited-run production and collector-focused pricing. This Volt colorway is the peak-tier Talaria palette.
Signature design details: Cursive 'Talaria' heel embossing (the flowing model-name script), Zoom Air tongue tab with vintage 'ZOOM AIR' text + Nike Swoosh, volt fleece/terry cloth upper panels (that fuzzy Y2K texture), red Swoosh detail on rear heel, black rubber/leather overlays over white mesh side panels, volt laces, black perforated tongue with 'AIR' heel text stamp, and the signature peach-to-yellow gradient outsole with black rubber pod inserts.
Condition: Moderately Used. Volt fleece panels still vibrant with no significant fading or wear. Black overlays intact. White mesh mostly clean with minor dust. Zoom Air tongue tag crisp and readable. Cursive 'Talaria' heel embossing crisp on both shoes. Red Swoosh detail still bright. Volt laces still bright. Sole gradient (peach-to-yellow) still visible with tread pattern fully intact — real walking wear on the rubber pods but nothing catastrophic. Structure fully solid, no rips, no separation. No box.
